    2030 World Cup Bid

Government saying they will back a joint bid from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland + Ireland IF the relevant FA's decide to bid.

Personally I'd be 72 so hopefully still around but ……………..

Can't see FIFA allowing 5 host countries to get a free entry pass

    Thoughts ?

My thoughts are this bramley , england and our associated partners in this bid will have to promise to build 10 new stadiums for FIFA to award us the tournament .

The amount of kick backs and back handers that FIFA delegates can receive to funnel in to Cayman Island accounts from prospective contractors are the only currency in world cup bids .

We don't need 10 new stadiums and in my opinion football won't ever be coming home in my lifetime .

Hope it does, was eight in 1966, shared final on TV with my Dad

Would love to be able to do same with my two and Grandkids (possible Great Grandkids by then !)

However why the need to build new ?

Thought criteria was to have sufficient stadia of required capacity (which we already have, albeit they'll be outdated by then)

Russia didn't build all new stadia (hence the scaffolding at an existing ground)

Only option I can think of is a home group of "death"
All 5 teams in Group A
Top one , or two qualify to next stage

I thought Canada, US and Mexico all have to qualify in 2026 despite being hosts?

According to Wikipedia FIFA have still to decide which if any hosts for 2026 will be granted automatic qualification. So in 2030 (I'll be 78) a fair decision would be automatic qualification for England and make the rest qualify as normal!!! That should go down well in Scotland.
