    Bame coaches!!

Today has seen the announcement that every England national sports team has to have at least one BAME coach.

Is it just me that thinks this smacks of racism?

We don't have an abbreviation for white coaches ffs.

Surely in this day and age, people just get the job on merit alone. If I was a black/Asian coach I would be pissed off to have a label attached to me because of my race..

I think this country is getting more fu cked up by the minute..

    Thoughts..

like it or not certain members of society say we must now live with "positive discrimination"

A measure like this is the definition of discrimination, as is any quota for people based on race, religion, ***uality, etc. These people end up doing exactly what they claim to be against.

For those that are in doubt:
"Discrimination: treating a person or particular group of people differently, especially in a worse way from the way in which you treat other people, because of their skin colour, ***, ***uality, etc."

    Oh, the irony.

I think problem is that any BAME coach will now always wonder if they've been picked for skill/merit or to fulfill a quota.

    Dodgy path to go down.

Ffs....a coach should be appointed based on whether or not they are the best person for that particular job.

I mean obviously, I get the idea, that it's to avoid any institutional racism and ensure balance (possibly redress an imbalance which may exist) and maybe as a white person maybe I'm not aware of the problems black, Asian and minority ethnic (yes, I had to Google) face in getting jobs like this but 'positive discrimination' is almost an oxymoron...and it's still discrimination nonetheless.

Is it not just promoting exactly what it claims to be against.
