Well, I didn't see that coming. At half-time, I considered my 0-1 prediction to be nailed on, as it looked as if both teams could go on all day without scoring in open play!
What a change after the own-goal, though. A bit worrying that we lost confidence so completely after that.
At moments like this, we need the team to show real character. The West Brom game suddenly takes on even greater significance. As you said the other day, Saxo, a couple of defeats can send you down ten places, the way things are.
To put it in perspective, though, Millwall beat Wigan, and Rotherham held Boro, away.
We need to remember NOT to draw sweeping general conclusions after a defeat any more than after a victory.

We can't expect positive results every time in such an even league.. I'm disappointed, of course, but all of us have to quickly get over it..

As usual BRFCS is an annoying read, but I won't bore you with that..!

I don't go there at all now, Saxo, but the Telegraph is bad enough.
To be honest, I was, myself, a bit mystified by where individuals were positioned in that last half-hour, but what always frustrates me is that the manager gets all the flak. These are professional footballers, and you can't tell me that formation has not been tried out in training.
What troubled me was that so many players looked clueless after Swansea scored. We were comfortably in control in the first half, but I would have liked to see a greater sense of urgency. As the own-goal proved, games can be turned on their heads in an instant, and we were being a bit arrogant in thinking that we would simply be able to casually pass the ball around for 90 minutes, without Swansea summoning some kind of reaction.
All the same, their keeper made an excellent save just before they got their third, so we might have salvaged an undeserved equaliser.
The players will need a real kick up the backside before the WBA game.

Yep this is the nature of this cracking league .
Annoyingly frustrating initially , but on reflection you inevitably come back to recognise it’s this sort of thing that makes the Champs what it is

Me too!! I was pissed right off!! I'd be lying if I said I was happy.

We could be hyper critical, but we HAVE to take the rough with the smooth.

If we go and get a positive result away on Sat, then its quickly forgotten.

I don't agree we where comfortable in the first half.
I thought we did nothing to get 1-0 up.
    We hadn't created one chance.
    Neither had they.
The weird thing was, they had a long range shot which hit the post and went in off our keeper, and had not been in our box once all night. They hadn't opened us up once, and the same for their second shot a minute later. The 3rd came seconds after Dacks chance, which goes in most other matches.
At no point did they open us up last night, likewise, we never opened them up.
It was a nothing game apart from the goals.

We lost our centre half after 5 mins. That was a huge blow and likely disrupted us.
Maybe if Swansea lost one of their best players after 5 mins the result may have gone the other way.

The fair result was a draw.

We didn't play poorly enough to lose 3-1, and that's just football.

I think that's quite harsh. We haven't lost back to back games for over 18 months.
I don't feel are under huge pressure? Why would we be?
    We aren't struggling against relegation.
Nobody expects us to go up.
We have amassed a very decent number of points thus far.
We have put ourselves in a great position.
If and its a massive IF ....we suddenly went on a terrible run, and got within a point of the bottom 3 then is the time to start questioning what is happening.
If we lost 2 games to 2 sides who have £147m more in the bank than us who both played in the Prem last season, while we played in Div1 ...I would question why is that suddenly a disaster??

Boro drew 0-0 with Rotherham last night.
    We are still 7th.

That's not bad really is it?

I'm very happy with the overall position, Champs, and - in general - with the way we've performed. What I meant was (and this supports your summary of the first half), I thought the players were a bit casual and complacent in the opening hour. Swansea were not presenting any threat, and we got the penalty. Then - it seemed to me - the team just acted as though the whole match would proceed in the same way. That hardly ever happens. If we'd pressed and fashioned another goal, the crowd would have turned on their own players completely.
If I have one major criticism this season, it is that we have not always exploited our periods of dominance or control. This was the second match in which that has come back to bite us in a big way.
We cannot be complacent against West Brom. They are a free-scoring team, and I doubt we'll see the kind of midfield chess we saw in the first hour on Tuesday.

They score and concede a lot, Saxo. It will be interesting to see if their approach is the same on Saturday, or if they decide on more conservative tactics. I hope they continue to go for broke, as that tends to create the kind of counter-attacking opportunities Dack thrives on.
