    Sunderland

Just watching the Port Vale v Sunderland cup tie , Sunderland raced in to a two goal lead before Vale pulled one back just before half time .

Decent game this and Vale should be level at least , a cast iron penalty not given , bizarre decision .

If you get at Sunderland they aren't that great in all honesty , sit back and let them play and yes they do look decent .

Plenty to be encouraged about watching the Mackems because we will most certainly be going up to TSOL to attack and take them on at the end of the month .

Like most teams at this level they'll have certain stand out weaknesses. They can look at us and say exactly the same sort of thing. Its a big game but let's try and deal with Accrington first in which will be a very tough test. They continue to defy the odds this season and only sit 3 points behind us as it stands

These games against Accrington , Sunderland and Pompey could be the difference between automatic promotion and a play off place .

We made a decent statement thumping Posh 4-0 on their own patch and we have the return game on boxing day to come .

I'm convinced we are the best team in the league but I'm not convinced we have that knack of getting the job done over the full 46 games if that makes sense .

The comparison would be a Brazilian team who turn up for world cups with the very best players but don't necessarily win the tournament .

Footballer ain't an exact science unfortunately mate .

I get your logic. The young squad we have are capable, no doubt about it. However, we desperately need to find the consistency in performances in order to get promotion. How can we go from a great showing at Peterborough to the debacle at Shrewsbury within a couple of weeks?

This month is massive as you say and so too is January for off field matters.

We have the ability to be the best but the capacity to lose to poor teams - the Shrewsbury got in our faces & employed "industrial" tactics - it worked & we looked really poor & couldn't even control the ball, let alone pass it! I've also seen us totally dominate with wonderful footballs! I suppose this happens with young teams. If we turn up half-decently, we will beat a lot of teams - when we fully turn up, we will beat all of them!

Agree. It's easy to call our results within the first 15 minutes. When we fly out of the traps we win.

The Moore - Woodrow partnership is the key for me .

Those two up top keeps the shape of the team nice and simple with 4 in midfield who all know their roles , the five and Moore up top tends to get a little fragmented .

Looking at the second half on saturday it was noticeable just how quickly we were able to counter , within seconds of County losing the ball in our penalty area we had four or five breaking at full pelt , ok the finishing and quality of final ball did let us down at times but none the less the team looked far more effective with the 4-4-2 .

I'd still be looking to bring in another striker in January and a serious challenger to Davies in goal and possibly another central defender other than that I feel we are good to go .

I'd go along with that. I'd like to think the club has another Mowatt, Dougall and Moore lined up to counter injuries and the january fire sale
