Many a time I've often thought of going down to my local Club (Bromley) but have not got round to it yet.

Yesterday I made the trip over the Severn Bridge to the Woodspring Stadium to watch the National League South game between these two teams. Both teams needed to win for different reasons. Weston were looking to get out of the bottom 3 and the Es*** side needed a win to stay in position for the play offs. It was a lively game played in front of almost 600 people, and they were treated to a 3-2 win for Billericay , a missed penalty for the home team which cannoned back off the crossbar plus 2 sendings off for Weston including their physio. It looked to me like they were both for dissent.
Weston tried really hard and were unfortunate not to get at least a point ,as their performance belied their league position. As for Billericay, it was a welcome win after losing their last 4 games. I know there are some posters on here who enjoy non league football like myself, so hopefully there’ll be more reports to come.An afternoon with a difference, but still very enjoyable at this friendly little club.

They have probably never heard of VAR below league 2 !! In any case , all the decisions seemed straight forward to me. Football in the West Country could do with a boost fight now. The only bright hopes are Torquay United who look as though they could be on their way back to the National League with a view to getting back into the football league itself.
Ten miles down the road from me are Barry Town United, who look as though they could well be getting European football at Jenner Park next season. I’ve seen some big teams down there in the past including Dynamo Kyiv, Shevchenko and all. Hope those days return later this year.
malwayne --all the decisions are straightforward, the problem is that the game at the top level has becpme media fuelled and they feel the need to introduce stupid things like VAR.
Don't get me wrong on this because I think that Goal Line Technology is great and really was needed, however, once again, it has only been introduced at the top levels of the game.
All officials do the job to the best of their ability, however, there will always be mistakes made, just as all players make mistakes. If they just got on with the game and accepted decisions there would be no problem. However, it is the media, through TV etc. which draws attention to any possible error and this is why they are wanting VAR, however, at the end of the day, as has been seen over the last couple of days, it is just someone else's opinion and they are very much not part of the game.
It was good to see that Newport managed to beat Leicester without any intervention today and that can only be good for football in general ---as long as we don't get them in the next round!!![]()
Weston are playing two levels higher than the stuff I watch at Clitheroe Mal, but their fans seem to be suffering even more, they haven't seen a home win all season, at least Clitheroe have won two. Our new manager at the start of the season said we'd win the league this season, he'd got promoted with Warrington and seemed credible at the time, but he's long gone and we're 4th from the bottom.
I used to think it a good idea supporting two teams, if one got beat the other usually won, not this season though, double misery most weekends. Thanks for the report Mal.
