Where are we in the transfer market?? We need to get our business done early so we can the sell any players who are surplus. We cannot lack cash, not long ago it was being stated we were one of the richest clubs in the premier. I do not think over the last 2 years we have spent much as income have been funded by outgoings. So that leaves 2 years of Premier payments with last year securing a bonus finishing in the Europa League. Like most windows we have no rumours floating around etc.. unlike may clubs much below our standing. We need to show some ambition so the team looks like it is moving forwards freshening up the squad.
The only thing floating about is Matt Phillips - but we all know how difficult it seems to be doing business with WBA. I would like us to look for players who have a goal threat. So at the back that could be Craig Dawson. I think the rest of the back line in OK. Midfield is a difficult one but my choice would be Tom Cairney but the price might be too high. We probably need some creative player - not sure who? Attack is a little more difficult and while I don't want a player similar to what we have I do think Andy Carroll is a player who knows how to play his position, especially when fit. Of course there is always Depauy at Brentford this might be a risk but we have had Andy Grey from there so it might be a reasonable shout. Another consideration might be Charlie Austin. All the players mentioned have goals threat. What does anyone else think?????

"We need to get our business done early"
You are spot on Lancaster, it should have been done early in 2018![]()
Sorry guys, but this is the reality...

Players are not queuing up to sign for Burnley. They know about the abuse they will get if their face doesn't fit, the moans and groans of large numbers of fans if they go through a bad spell, in fact, it is a wonder that we can attract anybody unless we offer them £100,000 per week.
That has to be the answer then, after all, we can afford it ----can't we?![]()
Tom Davies from Leicester? He's been starved of starting games, I think he's got a lot to offer but hasn't had the chance to play for long periods lately. I have it in my mind that he can offer some drive through midfield, or is he just another defender? And on recruiting, didn't we just employ someone to broaden the search and score a few new players? Where's he at?
I'll be amazed if TEC is not spot on...

Supersub there is elements of fact in your response. I would think like you we do not want to bust the bank. If the players are too much or want excessive wages then we should say no thank you. I actually think the excessive wages is the problem with Joe Hart, irrespective how well he plays. Personally I would sell for the sake of the dressing room. I do appreciate that we supporters have no influence on the whys and wherefores so we have to accept what we get but we still have a passion and an opinion.
Lancaster, I know that we all have passion and opinion, however, when I am on the Turf listening to all the moans and groans I always think about my od mate Frank Clarke who played left back for Newcastle for 13 years and made 389 appearances for them. The only thing he won was the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969.
He was a steady no-nonsense full back whose distribution was not brilliant, however, I never saw any player make him look silly because he was a good defender. The crowd used to moan about him when he hit a poor pass etc., etc.
He was a free transfer to Nottingham Forest in 1975 --signed by Brian Clough!
He was an ever-present in the next two seasons and they were promoted to the top flight in 1977. In the first season back up they became Champions of England and won the 1978 League Cup Final. His last competitive game was beating Malmö FF 1-0 in the 1979 European Cup Final.
He wasn't rated at Newcastle in spite of playing for them for 13 years and yet, when he left, he achieved more in four seasons than he had in his previous 13 seasons.
It is strange how many fans criticise players without fully realising their worth to a team. This is certainly a problem that is evident at Burnley where the expectations of quite a number of fans far exceed the capabilities of our players who work hard to maintain our status as a PL club.
