Three Wins on the Bounce for the Clarets

It looks as though Burnley's 2019 has begun in the best possible way. - External Link

Fair report, however, VAR was referred to on the second penalty, goodness knows why!

As someone who vehemently dislikes VAR, I was watching the officials a lot yesterday and when Simon Hooper awarded the second penalty, there was a slight delay before Chris Wood took it and this was because Hooper was listening through his headset and talking back. Nowhere near as long a delay as the first one, however, it was reviewed.

We didn't make hard work of it, Barnsley made it hard work for us and that is what you would expect in any FA Cup tie against a team from a lower division.
Just watch Newport against Leicester, I'll bet the Leicester fans think that they have made hard work of it too.

I saw both games Sub and the stats are telling, Leicester had 70% possession, we had 48%, Leicester outshot Newport 24-9, we outshot Barnsley 11-9, Leicester had 8 corners, Newport 3, Burnley and Barnsley had 4 each. They just confirm what I thought from watching both games, Leicester were a tad unfortunate, but tough, that's the way it goes, but as Jon says, we made hard work of it.

Leicester were beaten by a team lying in 13th place in League Two, Fulham were beaten by a team languishing in 19th place in League Two. Sheffield United, currently third in the Championship, were beaten at home by non-league Barnet --that is FA Cup football.
We beat a Barnsley team who are currently doing well in League One and who fought for everything. Only Middlesbrough have a better defensive record than Barnsley in the Championship and League One. They made it hard work for us, just as the other teams I have mentioned above made it even harder work for their illustrious opponents.
