Seems to be used to being cover for other defenders, so he might not find too much different at CUFC. he’s Scottish though, so it makes sense for him and it’s a chance to break through and get regular football. Let’s see what happens.

Carlisle United have today signed defender Peter Grant on a short-term deal which keeps him at Brunton Park until the end of the current campaign.

Grant, 25 in March, joins the club having left Plymouth Argyle this week ahead of his move up north.

Born in Bellshill, Grant is the son of Celtic legend Peter Grant, and started his career at Carrow Road where his father was both a player and manager. He had a spell with Thorpe Rovers during his time with the Canaries.

He moved to Peterborough whilst still a scholar and earned a professional contract with the Posh, having captained the youth team at London Road with some distinction.

He had loan spells with Thurrock and Histon before signing for Scottish Championship club Falkirk, where he went on to make 120 appearances.

He scored nine goals for the Bairns, including Falkirk’s only goal in the 2015 Scottish Cup Final when they faced Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

His move to Plymouth was completed last summer and he made nine appearances for the Pilgrims before agreeing to making the move up to Cumbria.

Grant will wear squad number 18.
