It’s amazing what’s in and around Rotherham what some might not have noticed, I knew it was there but never bothered to walk that way

Well the operational boats and barges on that stretch of the navigation have to have somewhere to get boat parts etc.

(I'm trying very hard here not to make puns about Warne's sinking ship)

We used to walk from Eastwood to Ickles Lock and back again.

Tulleys- Marine used to have boats for sale.
Not been down that way for years.

Is it the place on Northfield Road? If it is I’ve never seen it open, just loads of old boats in a fenced off yard.

Thats the place, large fenced off compound with loads of boats in various states of refurbishment that looks like its been abandoned for about 15 years. Posted some photos on twitter @HensonsPRman. Bloke on there says he parked in their car park daily when he worked at Bailey House for 6 years and never saw anyone in all that time.

Just looks abandoned as though somebody walked out 15 years ago and never went back. There must be 20 boats in there. Not a small place and given the price of boats probably £500k of stock just left.

Probably not much demand for U-boats nowadays

I’m sure Tom Bunce could turn this into a thriving business if he had the inclination to move from Southampton
