    Mat Richie

Rumours in the media today saying he’s wanting away for one last big payday!
He’s 29 so he would be looking for a final lucrative contract.

If this is true ( could be a leak from his agent)

We would need to be bringing in loads of midfielders Diames contract is up Hayden wants away, wet spam are supposed to be after shelvey

Just the start of the silly season folks

I think his biggest pay day has and will always be with us.
His next pay day will likely be half of what we pay him.
The biggest wages are most likely at the top 8 clubs and he most probably won't be seeing playing time at those clubs.

His best bet would be to gain an extra few years at Newcastle. I like his graft and I think he has more to offer technically than he has done throughout the season...although I'm not disappointed in his overall contribution to the cause..

Newcastle have the 17th highest wage bill in the top flight... he could go to wolves, Watford or back to Bournemouth and be on a better deal than we give him....

Championship clubs desperate to group, also pay big.... usually made up with signing on fees and bonuses.

Love his workrate, attitude, tram ethic, etc.....but I don't think we'd miss his unerring ability to hit the first man with an attempted cross.

It depends what's taken as reality when it all boils down to it.

Apparently Ritchie's on £45,000 a week and also the wage bills putting us into 17th don't seem to fit unless you add in all the youngsters and average it out from there because we have many players...(up to 15 plus) on wages over the 1.8 million average we've been put at...assuming the stats are correct on both parts, which none of us really know.

Anyway, regardless...who is going to pay Ritchie more than £45,000 a week?
I'd be shocked if any team would apart from him maybe extending his contract with us at the same rate or even a bit less.

I think the big wage bills for the clubs outside of the elite will come down rather than jump up.

Stoke allegedly, offered more than that when they bid £15 million for him.

Not sure how they could offer more than that before we'd accepted a bid but i'm sure they did as it doesn't seem to matter if a player is under contract.

I'd like to keep him, not just for his skills/work ethic but for what he brings in the dressing room.

However, i'm not convinced we'll offer him what he wants to stay and i can understand wanting one last big pay day.
