    Racist abuse.

On Sunday Supplement some panelists suggest point deductions for clubs where abuse occurs.
Sounds a simple remedy doesn't it.

What if a rival supporter come into a home end and deliberately abused a black player to get a club punished, for instance a Mackem could come to SJP and get the Toon relegated or visa versa.

That i think is the big draw back of the idea.

In principle it's a good one, in practicality i just don't see it working.

But there has to be more punishment because the system isn't really combating it at the minute.

This would open a can of worms.

The guilty people need to be identified on camera and banned. There was a case in Brazil last season where racist abuse was being given by the Gremio supporters behind the goal to a black goalkeeper. The tv cameras zoomed in on a lass (one of many) doing it. She made the news and has now lost her job, been socially black balled and generally had her life destroyed.

There haven“t been any more problems with racist abuse at that ground since.
