If you were choosing a team to support

...other than us, who would it be? Either going back in time to when you first started watching football or as a new fan starting now.

I was going to give an answer but the bell's just gone (that take you back? ) so I'll have to contribute to my own thread later! Doh!

I used to watch Gateshead at Redheugh Park in the old 3rd div North one week and the Toon on the alternate week at that time still in short trousers.

Those days Gateshead were almost always in the top 5 without ever being able to make the final jump to the then 2nd div.

The worst season they ever had in that division was when they divided the two third divs to make 3rd and 4th and that season Gateshead were top of the bottom half and thus in the 4th div and it's been mostly down hill since then.

Always liked West Brom for some reason also West Ham.

I started supporting Newcastle quite "late" (at 16) - many years before that I had supported Arsenal during their Invincibles-period. I still look back on that particular team with joy, but I think I mainly supported them because we always hated Man United in my house

I always liked Liverpool, but when they had a bad time under Hodgson/Dalglish a few years back I thought they became kind of self-titled. It felt like they were somehow assumming that they should have an automatic place in the Top 4 just because they are Liverpool. Of course not all fans thought that way, and maybe some of our fans were the same when we had our fall from grace, but that kind of turned me off a bit. I really like their team now under Klopp though.

I think I would support Leeds as my brother and dad both do. I keep an eye on them now.

Honestly cannot imagine supporting any other team. If I was prevented from supporting the Toon then I could see myself losing interest in football (even though I love it).

Have supported the Toon since their Cup winning glory days.I started watching the A team and juniors at the North Road ground Wallsend which was owned by NUFC then started to go to SJP when I was nine year old.

From 11 year old I started going to Roker Park when the Toon were away but never supported Sunderland, I saw some good games and wasn't bothered who won.I saw Brian Cloughs debut and also Jim Baxters. The last game I saw there before I moved to the Notts coalfield for the first time was just after the 66 World Cup,West Ham were the visitors and Geof Hurst scored the winner at the Roker end where I was standing.

I'd probably end up supporting West Brom.

They are my dad's team so would probably just drift into that orbit.

Going back in time to when I first started...other than Newcastle, it would likely be Hartlepool United.
Starting to support a team in the present as a newbie fan, it would likely be Hartlepool United.

All my posts are as honest as can be from my point. What you think of them as being dishonest is your issue, not mine.

Don't take my word for it. Ask everyone else then.
