    Slightly off topic

Survey out this week saying that the majority of Americans earning 100k a year don't feel wealthy.

I just wonder if Keyes and Nelms know what a helluva lot of folk are working for in this town....two very different cultures that might just be incompatible.

American and Scottish is bad enough but Texan and Dundonian might just never work.

And this match day experience (whatever that is) has raised its head again, I'd like my match day experience to be win a few games, decent atmosphere and to give the dabs/dons/accies/Perth fans the big ane on the way oot....brass bands, dancing girls and getting a cheap ticket to the hockey you can keep.

Nelms doesn't have a clue what the regular fans are thinking, he'll be expecting to see an avalanche of season tickets after this statement of his. Working around Dens, though, he can't be under any illusion as to the average income/wealth in Dundee, that would just be insulting. Then again, I doubt his mates who get meeting time with him are short of a few quid

Average salary in Dundee £22,339 according to payscale.com.

If Yanks earning $100,000 don't think they're wealthy I wonder what they think Dundonians earning £22,339 are?

Football is out of reach of a lot of the working "poor" (I don't like that phrase) and one of the main reasons I bang on about oap discounts....triple lock still there btw.

I wonder when you strip the top say 10% out how much lower it would be.

We all know plenty people in Dundee (and beyond) on zero hours and minimum wage 'contracts'. They can just about afford to live if they manage their money carefully - £350 for a season ticket? Forget it.

I'm on a moanathon roll now, I'd hazard an uneducated guess that the average pensioner income in Dundee is not much less than that and obviously no national insurance to pay plus free travel, help with the heating etc.

Also I reckon the average OAP Dens park season ticket holder will have income in excess of the average working income.

I'll admit I laughed like **** at that.

Can't mind if you have an opinion on oap discounts or no, suspect not.

My dad worked from 14 to 65 including time in WW2 - he survived on only basic state pensions when he retired maybe teachers, Police , Civil Servants and Council workers had other pensions but millions just had the pittance of the UK state pension which is one of the lowest in the G20 as a % of GDP
Don’t blame OAPs blame the UK Governments for making working poor acceptable for their system to work .
