Arrested man given further bail for Stendel assault

The man arrested for racially aggravated assault after Barnsley head coach Daniel Stendel suffered facial injuries in April has been further bailed until July.

Reds boss Stendel had to have emergency surgery on his teeth after colliding with a metal section of the Oakwell tunnel following his side’s 4-2 win over Fleetwood Town on April 13. Fleetwood manager Joey Barton was accused by Barnsley players of causing the German’s injuries and spoken to by police.

A man was arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offence and racially aggravated assault later that week but bailed until May. The man has now been bailed until next month.

Barton has ‘emphatically’ denied allegations that he assaulted Stendel. He was in the news again last week as his stag party in Newquay allegedly ended in a violent brawl on a beach.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police told the Chronicle: “The man arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offence and racially aggravated assault, in connection to an incident at Barnsley Football Club on Saturday 13 April has been further bailed until July.”

The SYP or CPS seem as inept at dealing with this incident as our politicians in dealing with leaving
Nearly 2 months have elapsed with a further month to come
Either drop it or sort it so we can all move on
    It ain't rocket science

Or perhaps there's nothing to get away with, animal? Criminal cases are best determined by evidence rather than gossip.

Move on? Are you having sleepless nights over the issue?

Far be it for me to defend the SYP and CPS, but it's fair to say that they will have a number of other cases to deal with, many of which will be more serious.

I take your point but let's bear in mind that the accused has, to say the least, a chequered past in violent incidents. I hope justice is done

As long as it is understood that justice being done does not necessarily mean that he will be charged or convicted. His history doesn't mean that he is guilty of the current allegation.

Of course, however, I'm sure that if you were representing the alleged victim you'd bring to light the accused past record.
