A fine and fitting tribute to Tom, but to be honest, my appreciation and admiration for Tom is so high, that if I wrote a tribute to him it would be even more complimentary than that. And that's not meant in any way to be critical of Dave's excellent piece, it just shows how highly I regard Tom Heaton and his contribution to our recent success.

Nevertheless, the decision to sell Tom Heaton to Aston Villa remains a sorrowful and poignant one.

thought it was Tom's idea to make a move ?....being he was offered a new deal but turned it down - no good him wasting on the bench.

Thanks TH - when all else was amiss - was good to know you had the Goal - and ear of the defence.

We move... onwards and forwards, but there is a hole in my heart.

A chasm BT. He'll always be our Tom. How on earth he didn't get more England team time I'll never know, or could it be because it's little old Burnley again?
Here's to Nick for the coming season. He stepped up when Tom was injured and he can do it again. Cool, calm and collected at the Parma game. I have high hopes for him now he's wearing No.1.

He has become one on my all time favorite Clarets - and I was watching in the early 60's. He has become my all time favorite Claret goalie - and that is praise indeed.

Fran - how differently things could have turned out. He was establishing himself in the England squad when got his injury. On his retorn he found himself Burnley's second choice behind Nick. He is still highly regarded by Southgate and he could easily become England's number one.
But I hope that Nick gets the gig now.

Tom gets nothing but total RESPECT on every Burnley platform I have read since his departure.

It's a great way to leave and the Villa fans are already creaming their pants!
