Spitting Image is returning to TV screens in the near future. Apparently they're giving it much more of an international flavour this time - puppets of Trump and Putin have already been made. The producers say it's a unique brand of British satire that could be exported all around the globe.
Certainly would be a welcome diversion from the grim mood that is dominating things these days. The Thatcher puppet was absolutely brilliant. Apparently, she was a fan of the show herself.

One of my favourites. John Major eating grey peas, and poor old Ken Baker as a slug . Definitely lots of possible targets now .
Boris, and JC would be perfect, Anna Soubry , Diane Abbott, Rees Mogg , so many possibilities
Has the potential to be every bit as good as the original given the material they have available to them at the moment! Not just the politicians but the royals and a plethora of high profile ‘celebs’ just begging to be ridiculed!
Great timing!
It might be difficult though. I mean, how do you satirise satire.
The one memory of Spitting Image that sticks out in my mind is 'Status Quo' performing a song about an RS232 interface lead over the closing credits.
Just googled it and here it is.... https://youtu.be/CDlj0jBtYmQ?t=111
Not seen/heard that in 34 years and the tune is just as I remember it, lead singer doesn't look much like Francis Rossi though.
It wasn't all about the puppets though, behind those were top class impersonators who also happened to be funny. For example, Harry Enfield was the voice behind all these characters:
Leon Brittan
Frank Bruno
Juan Carlos of Spain
Kenny Everett
Alan Freeman
Ronnie Hazelhurst
Douglas Hurd
Jimmy Greaves
Ken Livingstone
Chris Patten
Andy Peebles
Kenneth Newman
Prince Edward
David Steel
Denis Thatcher
Dave Lee Travis
Tommy Vance

That would be the issue recreating it, finding someone today who is funny.
