    The future.

If we go up where do we go recruitment wise?

The thought of losing Diagana or Pereira ( depending on the exact terms we took him on ) would leave a huge gap in the side.

There’s much to do in my opinion,we have that look of last season’s Norwich side and they’re finding the Prem more than tough.

I’m hopeful we won’t go down the route of Prem old boys looking for a last pay day or the perennial type of player who moves amongst relegation candidates, the likes of Dawson are to be avoided.

I’d hope we stick with more youthful players and up and coming lads.

Bowen at Hull strikes me as a player we should already be looking at for January never mind next season.

Jude Bellingham at Blues is a youngster we should be looking to steal.

I’d like to keep Diagana even though the price will make the Chink’s eyes water.

I’m sure you regulars will have seen players who you think we should be looking at?

Very early days yet in my view Mick. Want to see us winning games with more regularity then the last 18 games or so.....
I am very surprised we are where we are to be honest. Some very shrewd loan signings it has to be said...good article on the Guardian web site about Diagana...interesting read....
Play Leeds around the 2sd of January 2020. Bilic has probably been our best signings in a long time....think he is pivotal to our prospects of keeping and signing new players...should the case a rise. The players have responded to going behind in games so far which is great...long may it last........if we get to May with still only one defeat...I'd say we are in a good place....consistancy is key from here on in....

I agree with your sentiments, but will Periera, Diangana, other good Championship players be able to do it in the Prem week in, week out?
Its very hit & miss, some do some dont

You only have to switch off for 5 minutes and you are 2-0 down and with our passing it around the back we will be constantly chasing games and getting picked off.

Ferguson for example looks class, but if he has 3 games in 2 weeks against Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City and gets run ragged will they feel as confident in their abilities?
Thats the issue with younger inexperienced players, the inconsistency and they arent as developed in their own belief or support structure to bounce back or find a way to play through poor form

I have a feeling we need to prepare to yo yo and try and keep the spine of the squad like we did before, until we build the experience & quality, We need to do that with a mix of young players and seasoned Prem players

But like you I dont want old mercenaries

What are people's thoughts on what we do in the January window. With everybody playing well and with a strong squad, where do people think we need strengthening, if any?

I agree with the concern Mick plus the fact How on earth would we keep a successful Bilic? We could have no manager and a depleted squad and a Chink who wont spend enough to do enough. I think in some ways these are the good days and I'm going to enjoy them before it all falls apart.

In answer to your question I think we would have to pick off the best players from prem relegated teams and add players similar to the one's you described. Also the best players from disappointed teams who failed to get promoted with us and hopefully survive the first season and build from there.

Such is the way with how loans are structured nowadays...I am not sure who will be staying and who will be going......
I would hope that any potential loaners would be allowed to stay, especially if we are still top. It may be there only chance of onfield success any of them may experience.

Hanging on to Bilic must be our biggest priority. he was reported as saying West Brom was number one on his list of clubs that he wanted to manage. He does seem happy here.
I see the Arsenal job has been vacated.

    Hardly surprising.

    Communication problems apparently!

There is absolutely no way Bilic will be considered by Arsenal.

Their fans down here would deem him as a manager who couldn't cut it at West Ham. A bit like when they were linked with Johny Evans and they thought they were too good for him because Man U sold him. Now they're crying out for a defender like him.

There is a bit of a strange complex that exists when it comes to fans of the top 6...

They don't want the Aldi Mourinho Nuno, that's what the Aresenal fans have dubbed him.
