    January Window.

When the club says it may not sign any players in January because teams don't want to lose
    their best players.
When do Nufc actually sign another
    teams best players?

There's shouldn't be a January transfer window, in my opinion.
Do your deals in the summer and that's you for the season.
Clubs have more than enough players to cope and it also hands youngsters a chance in the event of a large injury list.

If we are looking safe we won't sign anyone .
Ashley has no intention of "pushing on" he just wants the £100m or so from the premier/sky coffers.
The signings of Joelinton and Almiron were done with the sell on value in mind , simple as . And the £40m quoted for Joe needs serious scrutiny , something is stinking about that deal.
He has no ambition at all and is happy owning a zombie team , finishing anywhere above the bottom 3 , just to push his tat empire ... Soon to be Fraser group .. So at least Shiite Direct signs will disappear .

I know many players that haven't hit the ground running for 40 million and higher.
I've watched some players in certain teams simply fall out of the pecking order and sold on but I've also seen many that get up to speed in the latter stages of a season and into the next.

I don't know what Ashley's really paid for Joelinton but then again that can be said about all clubs paying those stupid fees....if they actually do do that, which we can only speculate on.

But saying they only bought Almiron and Joelinton just to sell on, makes no sense. You might as well say all players are bought by all clubs to sell on for profit if that's the case.

I remember all kinds of players for us who were only bought to sell on according to some.
Some of those players are still at the club and some of them are now labelled as garbage by some on here.

And to say Ashley has no ambition is to say most football club owners have no ambition, because very few do anything of note, other than play fight to gain a spot next to the usual suspects with the odd teaser thrown in to make us all believe we all have a legitimate chance.

And if you think this is a Zombie team then it'd be interesting to know what you're after, because surely that makes every other team around us and below us, the same.

Until the FA and FIFA play fair with all clubs, only then will we have a genuine fair crack of the whip.
Other than that we have to make sure we don't go silly in order to compete, because we will certainly face the consequences of it if we do.
Luckily we have an owner that ensures we're nobody's whipping boys.

    100%

There never has been, is or will be any intention of pushing on.

The summer following the 5th place cemented that idea.

That's pretty absurd considering the fact that there are so many players out there who are not getting game time. This is a great chance for them to move on, for a club to improve by getting a new hungry player, and also for the selling club to get rid of someone they are not using / doesn't want to be there.

I think the Jan window is a good thing, although very hectic and stressful.

The january transfer window can be a good or bad thing depending on how it's looked at.
I think it gives moneybag clubs the green light to unsettle other clubs' players or even steal them by offering ridiculous fees.

As for giving the club a chance to get a new hungry player...maybe but equally it gives the club a chance to use its own hungry players.
I'd say one transfer window at the end of each season is sufficient.

I dont think there should be windows at all.

If a players spits his dummy out, downs tools the team is stuck with him paying wages for months - or if there is an injury crisis.

Intense competition for quality players in a short space of time drives up prices.

Its also a good excuse for owners not to spend.
