January signings - given recent form

Our recent run of form has made the play offs or even automatic promotion a realistic possibility.

Would a couple of signings (assuming there is any player trading/extra budget available) be a good idea or is Neil Ardley better building on the momentum that the current squad has generated?

Suppose it depends if we lose anyone. Personally I believe we have enough depth in the squad as it is to achieve a top 3 finish, assuming the manager uses them wisely.

The only thing I think we really miss is someone who can score regularly from a free kick that is just outside the box.
This sort of player could get us out of a hole from time to time.

I'm assuming Booty was going to be that player, of course he has to be on the pitch though.

Ship Crawford out and sign new central midfielder who is hungry and willing to work for it. Not saying Crawford isn’t, just that Ardley isn’t obviously going to start him regularly, so with JoB being out for a while again, we need a solid replacement, if and when we dip in form again.

We've no obvious replacement for Kyle Wooton. If he gets injured or suspended he will be a big loss.
We've coped well without O'Brien for most of the season, Lacey looks better than Turner in all honesty and the squad is really adaptable, Ardley has signed a pretty good squad from scratch but Wootton has been player of the season for me so far and there's no-one like him as a replacement.

A creative, central midfielder that can pass and take set pieces. Draper or Dono type would do, or a thin Caskey

Speaking of Wootton, anyone know if Scunny can recall him in Jan?

I don't know the details but would be astonished if S****horpe don't have the ability to recall Wootton.

Grimsby Live has an article on S****horpe's plans for the January window which contains the following

"Swann said they would listen to offers for players and one of those attracting a bit of interest is Kyle Wootton who is currently on loan at Notts County, where he has scored 12 goals.

“We have had a lot of interest in Kyle,” Swann said. “I don’t think there is any point in bringing them back into the fold unless something happened and we needed to consider them.”

I hope Notts have a contingency plan as given his form there has to be a distinct possibility of him being recalled and he would be a major loss up front. For me this is the absolute priority this window, and even if he does stay having a back up player in a similar mould would be an important addition.
