A Disciplinary Tribunal convened today to consider the following hearing:
Alleged Party in Breach: Brian Rice, Team Staff, Hamilton Academical FC
    Dates: Between 14 July 2015 and 15 October 2019
    Disciplinary Rule(s) allegedly breached:
Disciplinary Rule 31 of the Disciplinary Rules for Season 2015/16
Disciplinary Rule 31 of the Disciplinary Rules for Season 2016/17
Disciplinary Rule 31 of the Disciplinary Rules for Season 2017/18
Disciplinary Rule 31 of the Disciplinary Rules for Season 2018/19
Disciplinary Rule 31 of the Disciplinary Rules for Season 2019/20

Hearing date: Thursday 30 January 2020
Outcome: Ten match suspension to be applied as follows: Five matches immediate, with five matches suspended until the End of Season 2020/21, on condition that Mr Rice continues to attend regularly at recovery meetings, does not breach Disciplinary Rule 31 and that on the last day of each month the club submit a certificate to the effect that as far as the club is aware, he has not gambled since 17 October, 2019.

Initial explanation from the Chair of the Judicial Panel Tribunal:
"The period of suspension selected reflects the gravity of the breach of the rule involving the large number of low value bets.
The Tribunal chose to suspend one half of the sanction to reflect the genuine efforts it considered Mr. Rice has made to ‘put his life and that of his family back together again,’ and to take account of his genuine expression of remorse for his breach of the rule and the effect that has had on his family, the club and the Scottish FA. It is the hope of the Tribunal that the suspended element will not be imposed but will play some part in helping Mr. Rice to avoid returning to the practice, which has so blighted his life."
