Favourite Newcastle United team of all time.

Mine would be the one who won the Fairs cup in May/June '69, 6-2 on aggregate in front of 60,000 at S.J.P. first leg

Four Englishmen, Four Scots, Two Welshmen and a Dane.

Ujpesti Dozsa played with a full team of Hungarians.

McFaul, Craig, Clark, Gibb, Burton, Moncur, Scott, Robson, Mighty Wyn Davies, Arentoft and Sinclair.

Bobby Moncur, captain, got his only three goals for the club over both legs.

These days I think that starting eleven would give the Premiership something to think about.

Willie McFaul and David Craig were from Northern Ireland Pat.

I remember well that second leg.
I was really ill, stuck in bed listening to the game on the radio.
We had won the first leg 3-0 and were 2-0 down at half time in the second leg.
    So I felt even ****tier!

Then BIg Bob Moncur scored straight after the restart and Bennie Arentoft and Alan Foggon finished off in style.

    Great days!

Of course that's correct Kemptown. You ought to get on to wike and get them to correct the flags.

Amazing that Bobby Moncur never scored before or after those matches.

Equally amazing - neither Pop Robson nor the Mighty Wyn scored in either leg!

The flags are correct Pat - if you look real close you will see the Red Hand of Ulster in the middle of the cross.
Click on the flag and it confirms Northern Ireland.

Both were great players in their day.

    Remember the song?
    Aye, aye, aye. aye.
    McFaul is better than Yashin
Wyn Davies is better than Eusebio
And Sunlun are in for a thrashin'

Eat your heart out Tim Rice!

    Probably-and inevitably-Keegan's Entertainers.

Exciting attacking football, players of true class, team, club, city and fans together (and the brewery!)...and genuine hope.
