Premier League - Money down the table

    From Henry Winter on Twitter:

Premier League “unanimously voted to advance funds of £125 million to the EFL and National League as it is aware of the severe difficulties clubs throughout the football pyramid are suffering at this time”.

Premier League clubs “unanimously agreed to consult their players regarding a combination of conditional reductions and deferrals amounting to 30% of total annual remuneration”.

Premier League “is immediately committing £20m to support the NHS, communities, families and vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 pandemic”.

Premier League says “there is a combined objective for all remaining domestic league and cup matches to be played, enabling us to maintain the integrity of each competition. Any return to play will only be with the full support of Government and when medical guidance allows”.

Good to see they've sent money down the pyramid, this could be a lifesaver for some of the smaller clubs.

Also, it sounds harsh but £20 million from prem, really isn't that much?

    No, it's not harsh, Jammy.

In the great sceme of things, it's fuck all. One million from each club,

We're all in this together with people making sacrifices all over the shop. NHS frontline workers literally putting their lives on the line, shop workers facing the public each day, folk in school...do you have a mask because I certainly don't and trying to tell 5 and six year olds to keep their distance....people going above and beyond....and the Premier League give £20m million despite the billions they've made collectively from tv and sponsorship???

The clubs lower down the league are just as important in some ways as the big clubs and are just as, if not more, important to their local communities so supporting them is a good thing but a million per club???

    pfft
