"Conch" or "Conchie" azzin "A tha laikin conchie ?" worraarar developed the fine football skills I possessed.

Laiked wian owd tennis ball or owd casey. Tha marked art an area of wall abart 10 feet wide, the goal or conch area, where the wo no obstructions in frunt ovvit. Tha eddto kick ball. preferably at an angle to the wall so it shot off were it wo as difficult az tha gerrit fo thi opponent. Thi opponent only ed one shot to hit the conch area and weearivva it landed ageean it wo thi turn. Excellent for developing swerve on the ball wi thi instep or swerve wi outside of thi foot, all with power. Tha cud hit the ball while it wo moving or wait til it stopped. Tha cuddant "goal hang" waiting fo thi opponents ball to hit the conch area, tha eddto be at least ten feet away. If thi opponent missed the conch area it worra point to thee. First to ten wins.
Used to laik late into neet.

    Good 'un Dools.

We tended to use aar imagination to come up wi games that required very little in terms of equipment.

A lotta kids nardays wud turn the nooazes up at such games unless they edda proper pitch, nets, latest ball, full player kit with new trainers/booits, coaches, refs etc. Parents would be stood watching sharting abuse at the ref and complaining abart ivverything. Mooast onnem wouldn't come art to laik prefering to stop in "meeting" on their mobiles or playing the latest £50 computer game.

Eeee it's not worrit used to be like.
