Yes, in several countries over the years, mainly in connection with my job but also playing cricket. Happy memories.
I have had my photo on the front page of the Telegraph twice, once with a quote under my photo, which was something I'd never said. Never trust a journalist.
I have appeared on three FAN TV shows discussing Burnley and have been on the Radio Lancashire 'phone in several times.
My claim to fame though was ripping into Talk Sport after they were knocking how Dyche sets Burnley up. The guy who had me holding in the queue, even rang me back the day after to say how much he enjoyed hearing Cundy and Co. get it!
Mrs M and myself were on ITV in 1977 taking part in the family quiz show Mr and Mrs. We had only been married 3 months and had to answer 3 questions each. We only got 3 answers correct and came away with £15 instead of the jackpot of £80. A great experience, seeing how television worked behind the scenes. I also got on Talk Sport to argue the case that Neville Southall was as good ,if not better than Peter Schmeichel ,in his prime. Finally got on local radio and won some football goodies in a quiz. The winning question that no one else knew was “ Which Italian team plays in Bergamo. ? “ Anyone know the answer ?
Easy, peasy - Atalanta.
I have been interviewed by Nicky Campbell on Radio 5 Live about a local issue that hit the national news headlines. I have also (and this will probably not surprise people who know me) appeared live on stage in several theatrical productions but have not trodden the boards in many a long year. Family life superseded the greasepaint but I still love the theatre.
On the Friday before the 2009 play off final at Wembley I was in the Radio Lancs studio during the Tony Livesey breakfast show performing a successful Tinned Food Count for the Clarets live on air.
Long standing board members may remember that I conducted these counts right through the season and I claim a huge amount of credit for our promotion that season.
The commodity was prunes in juice. Just before the end of the programme Ted Robbins, who was on air next, came in and ate them.
In effect, I co-hosted the show but I have little memory about the issues we covered, apart from the prunes.
