Yep I saw it, ironically against Palace again and there's way too much of it in the game these days. VAR this time did its job, unlike vs Man Utd last week but no-one saying much about that eh.

We know greasy Jack dives more than an Olympic Diver but Jesus - did anyone see him go down on Sunday?
I honestly thought he had been shot by a rifle the way he went down!!!! How Grealish did not get booked for simulation then god only knows!! It’s called cheating and had this been Dwight Gayle we would never have heard the last of it!
A nasty little cheat! So much skill but over shadowed by cheating and not growing up!!
Anyone see it?

Evening WCV. Defo a wrong decision regarding the penalty against Man U. Point is Grealish does not help himself - bags of talent but he fell to the floor as if he had been shot!! Not doing himself any favours as when there is a genuine bad tackle on him refs will see him as a diver!
You need three points minimum from Everton!
I saw it. A real shame that any player has to resort to cheating like that.
Too many players do it. Unfortunately, I don’t think the refs help, the most skilful players are usually the most fouled and often don’t get the free kicks they deserve, so I suppose that they think that the only way is to go down.
The penalty v Man U looked a harsh call to me and I think it was a poor decision although I think you would have lost the match anyway in all likelihood. There was the predictable outcry about VAR from some of the Villa fans forgetting that you're probably still 2 points up on controversial VAR decisions since play resumed given that ‘goal’ fiasco V Sheffield Utd.
Regarding Greasy Jack, the jury is still out for me. Good player, yes but Graham Souness had some very interesting observations about him. Souness said he’d have loved to have played against him and he’s yet to be convinced as GJ is too slow in possession hence being the most fouled player in the league and his off the ball work-rate is poor. Too much time with his hands on his hips instead of supporting play he said. So, if we are setting the bar at really top midfielders, GJ wouldn’t have laced Souness’s boots IMHO so GJ’s a good player in the modern era but not the great player the hype would have us believe.
The Fernandez penalty was a very poor decision. Should have gone as a foul the other way as Fernandez jumped into the Villa man. Unbelievable that VAR backed up the decision. Then to cap it all the cretin commentators kept going on about how “clever” Fernandez had been - just another cheat IMO.
It was a poor decision, one of three across the games that night where penalties should not have been given - when you're playing a team with the attacking threat they have the last thing you need is the officials helping them.
I agree Stripes that we would probably have lost the match but as Keane said when you're fighting down the bottom the first goal is massive and up that point we were well in it. They then score their 2nd when added time has fully elapsed - not complaining but football is a cruel mistress.
Souness' point on Grealish is an accurate observation but he hasn't considered the quality of the players around him who don't routinely have the movement or craft of the top sides. He would flourish in a better team and when he is on it he is good to watch - he does work hard off the ball at times but most players don't do so for the full 90.
So called “experts” at matches never fail to surprise me with their stupidity.
Both were squealing about it being a definite penalty whereas my first, second and subsequent impressions were that Fernandez had gone “over the top” on the Villa player and that he should’ve been sent off.
It was a horrible challenge and completely obvious yet even after multiple replays they were both cooing about how “clever” Fernandez had been😳😤
That sort of challenge is a straight red every day of the week.
To top it off VAR aren’t allowed to review that part of the incident.
Our game is ludicrous.
I cringed last night when the 'experts' told everyone that George Graham used to tell players to go down when they are 'touched'. Well, in my book that is cheating, no more, no less.
The recent antics of both Jack Grealish and Matthius Pereira is pathetic. Both of these have tried to con the referee to gain an advantage and that again is cheating.
Both of these players are very gifted but I have no time for them whatsoever. They are cheats in my book.
