How does 500 odd membership of this foundation compare to dfcss now and at it's peak and Dee for life?
Not pitting one v the others I'm just curious.
Dee4life had a larger membership as did DFCSS at one point, but I’d compare it with the money going to the club, the Foundation wins that hands down
Think Dee4life had about 4000 members and they transferred into DFCSS. Not sure though but I bet there's an island dweller who does know. DFCSS now has about 200 members.
Think Foundation will be great organisation for no frills donations to the club. DFCSS has a custodial role, guardians of the legal agreement made by FPS.
Both should be encouraged IMO as they have different roles.
Completely different roles.
Foundation is an entity designed to raise cash specifically for the club and with no prerequisites on its use.
Dee4Life was club custodian and raised cash for Dee4Life, they then used the cash to manage the club's affairs.
DFCSS is, as BCram says above, custodian of the legal agreements made between it and the club at the time of the FPS take over. It raises cash to keep itself alive and to ensure the entrenched rights are never lost, it is not raising cash specifically for club use and contrary to what some believe it has never claimed to do so.
You can still compare numbers though....compare maybe wrong word, I just wanted to guage interest to what we have had in the past.
I'm not chief knocker of dfcss on here, they don't interest me really and I kinda ignore them but don't go out my way to run them down....like Pravda or Nicola or the dabs.
Maybe a better comparison would be Mwell foundation....how many members? Any idea.
Can I give my fellow posters answers to some of their questions on this topic.
First of all Dee4life Trust/DFCSS has according to the latest minutes freely available to read on the ‘Downloads and Minutes’ section of its website 190 members.
Dee4Life originally had over 4,000 members each paying a ‘one off’ fee of £1 for adult members. According to the laid down rules at that time members should have paid an annual subscription fee to be a member of Dee4Life later changed to DFCSS but subsequent Board of Directors decided not to impose the charge. That changed about four years ago when an annual membership was introduced.
There are now two categories of membership. Full members who pay the annual membership fee of £5 which entitles them to attend the AGM and a historic membership which consists of all the members who paid the £1 fee to join but who do not pay the annual £5 membership fee.
I attended my first Dee4Life Trust AGM in March 2018 in the Dundee Social Club and it was the first time I had ever been in the Dundee Social Club.
All full members receive emails from the secretary concerning recent matters such as their views about FPS offering to purchase the A shares for a pittance or the recent email asking the members what they thought about the society giving a financial donation to the club.
The money that is donated through the 1893 Foundation scheme is handed over to the club for them to spend as they think fit.
In my opinion I am surprised that the two Dundee supporters who set up the Foundation did not specify what the money raised was to be spent on.
I have previously done a bit of homework or this type of fans fundraising scheme. Aberdeen and Ayr United both have a fans fundraising scheme with the money raised from both schemes stating that the money raised annually will go to the manager’s playing budget.
Ayr United are in my opinion ‘on the ball’ as they list details of their Fundraising account on their club website quoting the Bank Sorting Code and Account Number to allow one off donations. Dundee Football Club should have also quoted the bank account details for the Foundation on the club website to allow individual donations. The iBan number could also be quoted to allow people living outwith the UK to make a donation.
I would not have bothered with free gimmicks to encourage people to sign up.
I have also carried out research about the Well Foundation which I obtained from the Companies House website.
The Well Society holds a 54% controlling interest (the last time I checked):in Motherwell Football Club Limited and the money raised from donations to the Well Society is handed over to Motherwell Football Club for working capital.
Motherwell Football Club are heavily depended on good cup runs and selling players for substantial sums of money to balance the books. Recently they have done very well with semi final appearances and substantial sums received for the sale of players but in their latest set of annual accounts for year ending 31st May 2019 they made quite a substantial loss.
Fans ownership may sound the way forward but in these difficult times can prove problematic and it might account for the Motherwell FC manager Stephen Robinson’s outburst after their home game against Hamilton last Saturday.
Finally Dee4life in each of the last two seasons has entered the Dee Promotions Youth Football draw at the start of the season and sponsored two first team players.
They have also made donations to the new online Dundee FC historical museum and donated £888 to Dundee FC in the Community Trust. They also made a financial donation to a food bank collection before the Celtic home game in Match 2019.
All this information is available to read in the Downloads and Minutes section of the Dee4life website.
I hope that this information is of some help to you all. This post has raised 0.5p for the Dee4life Trust using the Dee4life.easysearch.org.uk instead of Google.
It is easy to join the Dee4life Trust with full details on the website using the Go Cardless scheme. Every Dundee supporter is very welcome to join the Dee4life Trust,
There is also a new Dee4Life Trust Facebook Page in operation.
