West Brom V Leeds United ( The Difference )

Some say we have to work within our budget constraints estimated at 20 to 30 million - even our own fans! FFS

Lai is worth an estimated 2.8 billion and the Leeds owner around 400 million so small fry in comparison!

West Brom having achieved promotion will gain around 150 million in Premier money - 6 players off the pay role since promotion VERSUS Leeds having no players off the payroll and some fantastic players coming in and they break their record transfer spend.

One needs to ask - why are Leeds getting fully prepared for life in the Premier ( and they were better than us in the Championship ) as per the above, and all the talk is West Brom have financial constraints and have sacked three staff members from the club which defies belief!

Can someone answer the big question WHY? Should it not be the other way around with Leeds being really tight and looking at loan deals like Deeney and not even paying the dues to get fantastic loan players back?

Comments please between the difference between West Brom and Leeds ........

Because they've got an owner who is actually interested in Leeds United as a football club. That little 'runt' that we've got is only interested in his investment.

You could spin it another way, some would say at £16 Mill Costa is expensive especially as we could have Pereira and Krov for that amount they have paid £24 million for a striker that scored 7 goals last season HRK scored more than that, I don't see them bringing in a lot of prem experience which could be a risk, I'm going to wait and see who we bring in before I make a final judgement. We have the same doom and gloom every transfer window this one is quality over quantity for me, we have plenty of players who can chip in with goals spending a fortune one 1 player doesn't make sense to me.

I spotted this lack of goals from this 29 year old £20 odd million 'striker' Is he a replacement for Bamford (who the Leeds fans I know reckon he needs replacing) or is he a goal scoring winger? Any Leeds fans like to comment?

Whichever way you spin it - Leeds have an owner who loves the club and ambitious plus he’s worth a fraction of that t wat in China who shows as much interest in us as a piece of dog turd on his shoe!

Leeds were better than us in the championship and we are much weaker now as a squad. Let’s hope to be surprised with the same amount of financial outlay as Leeds!!

You have to take your hat off to Leeds regardless - with the same squad as the one promoted and all the additions - they are having a bloody good go!! Good luck to them as any business who invests is one that does not stand still!

PS - I bet Lai has pocketed or will pocket at least 75% of the purchase price and the asset is still there so even being relegated he’s still going to make money! That’s the plan!

I'll take my hat off to Leeds if and when these big money signings establish them in the Prem.Could just as easily be a Villa/Fulham of 2 years ago.

You may be right! I would bet my money though on Rodrigo getting more goals than Austin or HRK that’s for sure! Even if Leeds fail - hats off to them for giving it a good go under an owner with a fraction of the money than the t osser in China who couldn’t give two s hits about our club! Does he even remember where our stadium is?

    My take on it.

Last season we got parachute payments which Leeds did not. This gave us a far greater income than them despite their significant additional income from gate receipts. This enabled us to pay out significantly more in wages than Leeds did.

Next season this advantage we have over Leeds disappears as we both get PL money. Leeds suddenly see a huge increase in income, as do we but nowhere near as great as Leeds will. We already have the cost on our books Leeds do not.

Unless we can get the likes of Zahore, Austin, Burke and all the other big wage earners off our books then we don’t have the money to both spend and pay wages, agents fees etc that go with it. Our present wages costs are restricting us in comparison to the lower cost base that Leeds have.

We have made small losses the last two years but next year will see our Chairman have an opportunity to get some money back out of the business due to PL Tv money. Leeds owners also can get money out this year but have enough wriggle room also to invest due to their greater increase in income.

Al Lai hasn't got s hit, he probably borrowed the money to buy is when borrowing was cheap in China.

    He certainly doesn't have £2.4bn.

The Leeds owner is the same as Lai, both want to make as much money as possible from the prem tv rights.
