    O/T New Mainline Train Station

    It's this likely to happen?
    Other than back at Masbrough, where could they put a new station.

    Masbrough is the obvious choice, the only other place it could be is Parkgate.

    Lots of land at the back of Northfield road.

    I think the following statement regarding any new mainline station is interesting:

    "This should be integrated with the tram-train network to connect to the town centre."

    That may suggest parkgate as there you have:

    * the mainline track
    * lots of development land alongside the track
    * tram/train link to town centre already in place.

    Personally I'd love to see masbrough brought back to life (and I'd keep much of the original architecture), but I suspect it will be parkgate.

    Is that tram-train still running from Parkgate?

    The guy that owns the Induz will be rubbing his hands in glee if this came off.

    Couldn't be a mainline station if it was at parkgate on the branch line. They'd struggle to fit a station in on the mainline between the station hotel and morrisons.

    Only one choice masborough using the direct route to Chesterfield and bypassing Dee dar.

    ....plenty of room on the land that Tommy Wards has been clearing for years and at the back of Great Eastern way.

    You do realise there’s no trains that run that route that go to London for a start. It’s hardly ideal with it being out of the town centre as well. Still it would be a start after losing direct trains to Lincoln and more from Rotherham central in the last few years.

    The CrossCountry and TransPennine services run along that route though which would be a lot better service than the town is getting now.
