VAR seems to be faster than last season.

They changed the rules on pens which are now crazy.

Penalties in our games so far have been a joke - can't imagine what Big Jack, Norm and Trevor Cherry would make of trying to play football under the current conditions in the PL.

They would have been red carded within the first five minutes of every game. 😂

Agreed. There have been 11 penalties in 17 games. VAR sometimes forgets the rule change e.g. 1st penalty against Liverpool. If ball hits knee or any part of the body first before hand its Not penalty. Unless they missed it. Apart from that, it's been a fiasco in so many matches e.g. Palace Scumchester.

The rules are odd - the Koch penalty in the Liverpool game was commented on and notwithstanding the rebound from the knee it was said to be a pen because of his arm position.

The one that wasnít given (think against Man U) I thought was deffo a pen and was Said not to be due to how high up the arm it hit.

Football rules have become way too technical and decided by people who donít understand the game if the players, fans, coaches and pundits are all left confused.

Totally agree wih that - what about the penalty hat wasn't given against Arsenal last weekend against West Ham - blatant handball to me, but the most ridiculous one was the scum one where play had moved to the other end of the pitch, and no Palace players had even claimed a penalty.. shocking. To say VAR will eventually be the death of the game is probably a statement of fact

Even goal celebrations are a bit muted in case it's called back for your finger nail being offside.

    Re the Liverpool pen.

Except for the above offences, it is not an offence if the ball touches a playerís hand/arm

directly from the playerís own head or body (including the foot).

So how was a pen given??? Full rules:

Not sure if it's any worse this year, or we're just experiencing all this nonsense for the first time. People around me at work who support other teams don't seem as shocked by how ridiculous it's all been.

You would be surprised how much no spectators have had on the game. Refs are guided by the noise and they don't make rash decisions.
Video ref, likewise they will look at the image 5 times not once before they make a decision.
We lost the game cause of this rash decisions and could have lost points due to another error as I didn't know attempting to do something but not following through as Koch pulled out of that tackle and spud fell like he was shot untouched.
We have one of the best refs in the world here as he immigrated to Australia and man how enjoyable it is to watch a game when he is the official.
