    Des O Connor gone

Not my cup of tea but not many will equal his years at the top in showbusiness, or knock a baby out at almost eighty.

Not my type of entertainment either but by all accounts, a very nice, decent bloke, who made the most of his talents. RIP.

For those of us of a certain age, Des O’C was a great “family entertainer” ..... fondly remember sitting around the TV on a Saturday evening as a youngster. His style is probably a bit dated now .... and the time of “the great TV all round entertainers” has probably passed forever. But in his day Des was the “man” and someone who hardly put a foot wrong .... and as far as I am aware he had no skeletons in his cupboard. His collaborations with Morecambe & Wise we’re very enjoyable. RIP Des .... a memory of a more tolerant era gone by ....

Always willing to allow himself to be set up as the Stooge against Morcambe and Wise and Freddie Starr and the like.

My wife went to see him do his lunchtime show with Mel Sykes about 15 years ago and said what a lovely man he came across as and what a b I t c h Mel Sykes came over as!

Never any hint of scandal with him either.

I enjoyed his style......RIP old chap, a life well lived.

I think I'm correct in saying he was married to a Pensnett girl many years ago. He must have been a strong character!! No offence to any 'snetters' - i was one once!

As previous poster said remember him from Saturday night entertainment. RIP.
