    Ops for Roberts & McCrory

Neal Ardley has revealed that Cal Roberts and Damien McCrory will both undergo operations to fix their respective injuries.

Roberts could go under the knife as early as today following specialist advice, while McCrory will also require surgery on his knee.

“Callum’s going to have some surgery, potentially today,” said the boss on Tuesday afternoon.

“A specialist has looked at all the data and feels a lot of the symptoms are coming from a weakness in the lining of his stomach and that an operation is the best course of action.

“None of the scans have shown exactly what it is but the specialist thinks this simple operation will give Callum the strength he needs to stop the pain and discomfort he’s been feeling.

“The positive news is that he could be back at 80% fitness within two weeks and at 100% within four, so if this does fix the problem then we could potentially have Cal back in the fold come mid-January.”

Unfortunately, the news on McCrory is not as positive.

“Damien’s opposite knee to the one which was operated on after the first lockdown seems to have broken down,” said Ardley.

“He’s an absolute warrior who’s battled, battled and battled to get back fit but when he tells you something’s not right, you know it’s not right because he’d play with a broken leg.

“He’s going into surgery fairly soon and that could leave him out for anything between 6-10 weeks, depending on how serious it is.

“It’s terrible news for him. He’s really down - I had a chat with him this morning. You never want to see someone who’s worked so hard to get fit struggling.

“I hope we’ll see him play again this season. The lads love him and he deserves to be playing football.”

Everyone at the club wishes Cal and Damien well.

We've missed Cal more than Damien, we need to be about where we are now and get Cal back fresh for the run in and final push, best wishes to both for a speedy recovery

Agreed. If Cal due back 100% in mid January that could be in time for Torquay and Solihull. 2 big games that could go a long way to determining whether we are title contenders or top 7 contenders.

I think McCrory is done. Two dodgy knees and he never had any pace to begin with. Sad news for him and his fam.

Good news for Cal and wish him a speedy recovery and, hopefully, he will soon be back to add some magic for us.

Sad news for Damien and wish him well. Keep fighting lad.
