    Lib Dem’s own goal

Their conference is happening and in these times of crisis spending time navel (and lower) gazing by debating
"Supporting Trans and Non-Binary People Within the Liberal Democrats"
The motion says the conference believes that "trans women are women, trans men are men and non-binary identities are non-binary" and that "people are free to define their gender as they choose and that choice should be respected".

As the economy struggles and millions of people are worrying if they will have a job and pay the bills, we are talking about what to put on a lanyard.

"The party is in a dreadful state and this is the best example of it. It's dire, utterly dire. Of course this stuff matters to some people, so just do it, rather than debating it. It's a sign of a party that's run out of ideas."

I think even 59 has given up on them these days, he has far more sense than to support such nonsense, you'll see.

Old news there OC. That motion has already been passed.

The spring conference agenda is still to be decided.
I am actually a co-author of a motion on social care (Beveridge 2.0) which is being considered for debate there.

Unlike the other parties, Lib Dem policy can only be made by a vote of the members, and members are able to submit their own motions for consideration.

The trans issue affects a surprising number of people (as did gay marriage, that we brought in during the coalition)

Yes, there is nothing like a little dose of Cultural Marxism to keep the wolves from the door and virtue signal that we are a Woke party heh. Sickening use of priorities ands post modernist BS. This is indicative of societies that are sick and declining; that's a diagnosis for the whole of the West. China commies are laughing at us, over there you are not allowed to push trans genderism as it's "not communist". Identity politics and post modernism BS is only for the West to weaken us.

The latest news on the Lib Dem page in the Telegraph website is dated 27 September, from Will Rennie, 2 days after the story I posted above!
    Is anything happening 59-60?

Not publicly OC, but there is a lot of work going on working up our policies.

The social care/NHS motion looks brilliant!

We have committed to the Universal Basic Income, but there is a lot of work needed on how it should be rolled out.

We invented the term "Build Back Better" and, when the policy has been completed, it will be our blueprint for the post covid economy.

Lot's of work going on regarding green issues (which will interface with Build Back Better)

The great thing is that ordinary members can get involved in formulating policy. You can check to see which policies are being worked on and, if you are interested in any, you can get involved - all this is done online.

With around four years to the next General Election do not expect a brand new Lib Dem manifesto any time soon.

On the other hand, we need some new, eye catching policies ASAP because we are a long way behind in the polls.
