Rotherham United v Barnsley Match Thoughts

A fair bit to discuss here so I've started this match thread earlier than normal .

Nobody seems to know if this game will go ahead at the moment and I understand the Millers are down to the bare bones and could be short on the bench .

The EFL seem to be strong arming the Millers in to playing the game despite a covid outbreak within their ranks .

Personally I think the game should be called off and it doesn't sit right with me at all .

Let's hope common sense prevails and the Rotherham players make a full recovery and we play this game when it's right to do so .

Absolutely no guarantees we'd win the game no matter who the Millers field but a victory over a badly depleted Rotherham squad would be a hollow win I have to say .

Agree with that. Laik it when it is safe to do so. Worrying how many fixtures were called off boxing day. It could be our squads turn for a covid attack next week who knows?

Either way I'm expecting a hard game over there on tuesday night .

Warne's team always give it their all and they've had some decent results despite their struggles .

A good point off Bournemouth which is more than we got and they were extremely unlucky to lose at Blackburn in time added on recently .

Owt less than totally on it will see us beaten .

    Agree.
And another important consideration is that IMO we will be a stronger team after the January window.

Rotherham look a good tight outfit this season, they look dangerous at set pieces especially in the air and they’ve been unlucky with some of the results. I think it will be a very tough game for us.

I'm in the other camp to be honest!! I think games should go ahead even if you have to play the tea lady.
As long as you are not showing symptoms or sheilding then why not? If some teams benefit because they have been more sensible around the risks then so be it! It seems to me that footballers are breaking the rules more than most?
In American football they have the squad in bubbles, wide recievers in one bubble, quaterbacks in another etc. and they have to play no matter what. I think it was the Bronco's the other day that had to play their game with no wide recievers because a player in their bubble tested positive.
They are playing 3 games a week now, can you imagine if all the games continue to be postponed? they will have to play 4 or 5 to catch up again because if they don't some clubs will go out of business and nobody wants that.

    .
    Correct Perks.

Don't forget Ismael was sacked from LASK Linz for breaking Austrian Football Coronavirus Rules twice, first by bringing the squad back earlier than the rules permitted to gain an advantage over other clubs, secondly by training in large groups rather than the Covid safe small group rules allowed at that time in Austria. The Austrian FA took the view that this was a serious breach of the rules and docked LASK 6 points, leading on to LASK sacking Ismael.

Ismael was unemployed and available to any club willing to ignore this Covid breach.
It doesn't sit well with me and a decent spell of results won't alter that.
I am aware I may well be on my own with this view then so be it. I'm happy with that. Lives are more important than gaining advantage in a football match.
