Classic FM Ultimate Hall of Fame

    Right!

I'm putting this thread up to annoy people who have it in for me during the festive period.

Classic FM are currently playing the top 300 pieces of classical music as voted by it's listeners over the past 25 years.

Up to 212 now, with the number one to be revealed on Thursday night.

No doubt Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending will be top of the list...not my favorite piece, but the music is making for a nice background ambiance to distract me from the unwarranted attacks on me.

We’re listening off and on 59, suspect you are correct, we aren’t great fans of the Lark Ascending either.

However this flute version by Katherine Bryan is unique and worth a listen.

Katherine is RSNO principal flautist and very talented and quite attractive here’s her explanation for it.

    Enjoy.

    The normal suspects alto!

But don't worry, my incredible intellect and intelligence will be more than enough to see them off.

I have nothing to declare apart from my genius

And there is only one thing worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about

That's rather pleasant Colner, I don't like all the crash and thunder you nearly always get from Classical, but I can take the scerene stuff though.

About 20 years ago I heard a flute classic on a radio station, I did not catch the name of it so I wrote to the radio station (forget which one) telling them the day and date it was played and they said they could not tell me who it was so I forgot all about it, about 3 weeks later they mailed me the artist and work, I bought it and its in my music collection but have not played it since and don't remember who it is

    Alto
    Glad you liked it.
Katherine is very serene and has recorded a lot of flute versions of classics written for other instruments. Silver Bow CD has this on it.

I was just in the process of consigning this nonsensical thread to the "Deleted Bin" when the Child Bride told me not to be a Scrooge and to leave the "Posh Set" alone.
