Mark Clattenburg: Ex-Premier League referee says VAR could save a career

    Var is rubbish

If refs maybe got some bottle and actually were consistent instead of making rules up to suit each team then maybe they didn’t have to worry about looking like clowns, I doubt they’d lose their job unless they’re proved to be cheats

And as we know, the cheats only get to referee at New York Stadium

I think ultimately, VAR will be seen to be really* good for football - like it has in cricket and rugby. Players will change techniques and habits when they understand how they will be penalised under VAR reviews.* These changes have already happened in cricket and rugby which has improved the game.

I think it will lead to fewer off-sides (players alter runs), fouls (they know they wont get away with it) and tackles inside the box (which will lead to penalties); the ball will be in play longer, fewer stoppages and lead to more goals.
