Latest from Ollie Bayliss on Funding

I understand the National League Independent Review Panel recommended adjusting the December payments in order to adopt their preferred model.

    It would’ve resulted in:

Small orange diamondIncreased funding for 24 clubs

Small orange diamondReduced funding for 30 clubs

Small orange diamond10 clubs would’ve fallen from £84k to £12k

The League received that recommendation on the 14th December - shortly before the final payments were expected from clubs.

It felt that making changes to the allocations at that late stage would not be fair, practical or legally possible.

Surely with the speed of the virus spreading and the number of confirmed positive cases and deaths daily it would be safer all around if the lower leagues were cancelled/suspended...

I'm amazed a club hasn't actually refused to continue on the grounds it's impossible to do so and continue to be both viable and competitive. Will only take one club for others to follow suit and then the integrity of the league(s) and this season would be in jeapardy and cancellation with a brand new start in August the only option?

Its a complete farce you play a game next 3 are off play 2 more to then have another delay.

How can it be taken seriously if we are classed as elite testing should be exactly the same as the premier league.

Imo it needs to be scrapped as its clear 44 games will not be played in time.

Dover's situation in particular looks increasingly ridiculous. It's January and they have only managed 10 league games so far. Their next game has been called off as well, meaning they could be 8 games behind Altrincham by the end of Saturday's fixtures.

I'm sure they will just have to Ben Dover at the backend of the season.

If the UK has a severe winter, they’ll need to extend the season by a few weeks to fit all the games in. Really isn’t a good idea to have a long run in the FA Trophy this season.

Surely vaccinating football players has to be an option if the season is to continue. Yes there will be a moral argument against but there's also a moral argument against them having to play and having physical contact with other players.

Hard to see a moral argument that puts footballers ahead of, say, bus drivers in the queue for vaccines (the latter have died of COVID - not heard of any fatalities among young athletes).
