A general view around Oakwell the home of Barnsley FC is seen prior to the Sky Bet Championship match between Barnsley and Nottingham Forest at Oakwell on March 08, 2014 in Barnsley, England.
The top-flight have published information on how much financial support they provided to EFL clubs last season, and have revealed the exact amounts given to each side in the three tiers below the Premier League.
And their data shows that the Tykes were given a sum of £5.340million during the 2019/2020.

The majority of the Barnsley’s total came from £4.5million in ‘Core Club’ payments.

Barnsley were also handed £725,000 to help the running of their academy, while £115,000 was given to the club for their work in the local community.

The Premier League said: “The success of the Premier League both at home and around the world allows it to make a significant contribution to the UK economy and the wider game.
“Alongside generating £3.3billion in tax annually for the UK government, including £1.1billion from the players alone, the Premier League directs crucial funding throughout the football pyramid.

“This supports clubs in the English Football League (EFL) and the National League, not just with core solidarity payments to assist their general costs, but also investment into their wide-ranging community programmes, and to fund their development of young players in their academies.

“The Premier League has today published club-by-club infographics that detail the funding that each of 72 clubs across the EFL received in the 2019/20 season.

“This funding is received annually and is in addition to the rescue package to address the immediate financial challenges faced by EFL clubs as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Enjoy it while we can. It will be a closed house soon. It's obvious the Premier League are paying clubs off because they're going to remove relegation and Promotion. Now Leeds are back in the big time it could happen sooner rather than later.

Interesting read this Ponte it clearly demonstrates the lack of a financial level playing field in the EFL.

Yeah £5 million is feck all compared to what they get. Instead of lauding what they give us. Clubs should be asking for more. A lot more.
