    Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca is making quite a name for himself as Manager of the Elite and Development squad under Pep Guidiola. He is even being talked about as one of the top tips to become Manager of Celtic!

Would be a very interesting appointment as no.2 to Sam Allardyce with an eye to developing him into the next Mnager.

I never got all the hype about him as a player with us.

He had a very decent career elsewhere though to be fair to him but never ripped up any trees.

I don’t think the Barcelona style is suited to our squad.

Without him falling in love with a local girl we would have been well and truly stuffed. His transfer fee saved us from probably a similar fate to the tatters...

He was a decent player in a very poor side.
If we turned back the clock now I think he would struggle to get into this poor side.
Was he better than Diangana and Peirera?

The money we got for him sparked our revival.
Cost nothing sold for over £4m. Which was massive money back then,

With respect does it matter. I don’t get it that in football there is still this idea that better players make better Managers. Maresca is a coach now and by all reports a very well respected one at that.

Snodgrass is no mug and has played for a lot of coaches and Managers. He speaks very highly of him from his time working with him at West Ham and described him as ‘an elite level coach’.

I have never said that I think better players make better manager's, I have always thought quite the contrary.
Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourhino, were never outstanding player's and Roy Hodgson never played at all at pro level.
Bryan Robson and Don Howe are good examples of great players poor managers.
Maresca was a decent player and might make a decent manager.
