    Peter Lorimer RIP.

    Great player.

Saw him play many games in the 70’s when watching Leeds with my dad.

I’ve still yet to see anyone strike a ball harder than him.

    RIP.

Have to agree, he could take the back of the net out.

Watched him play for my local side Whitby Town, he was in his 30’s then, scored a 35 yard free kick v South Bank in a Boxing Day morning match

The names of the Leeds players are etched onto our memories especially in those of us who were mere boys in the 70s. Leeds were a tough uncompromising team for sure but they had some truly outstanding footballers, with Lorimer being right up there as being a great player indeed, just take a look at some of these superb goals

He was a superb player and why the players of yester year were so much better - more quality and commitment in the game!

PS - there’s not many players who can take the windows out of McDonald’s on the Birmingham Road but Matt Phillips is one of them!

A dozen of them could’ve been goals of the season 😳

I think some people forget he had a very decent second spell back at Leeds in the late 80’s scoring one every four or so matches at 37-39 years of age.

A 150 in 450 games in his first spell as an attacking midfielder really is the sign of his quality.

    Proper players in those days.
