    Dog Thefts On The Rise

Dog thefts are huge now with many breeds selling for over £3000. With the emotional attachment dogs have to owners ( lone pensioners, couples who can’t have kids etc ) - I think it’s shocking how these pets get stolen and leave folk heartbroken. The fine for stealing a dog is no more than for stealing a mobile phone.

I do feel though the public should have a right to protect their pets as they do their homes so if a person is caught in the act of dog theft the owner should have a right of retaliation - a swift cosh around the head with a baseball bat or a head butt splitting the offenders nose across their face should be the least expected.

We have a gorgeous golden retriever and if anyone tried to steal her and got caught - the least they should expect is a taste of hospital food for a week. The heartbreak of an elderly person losing their beloved dog to theft could be heartbreaking!

It’s a disgusting crime; I’ve just read that Suffolk police have arrested about five people after a raid on a ‘travellers’ site near Ipswich. They found 84 stolen dogs. Everyone on that ‘travellers’ site must have known about it, you can keep that number of dogs quiet. They’ll only get a minimal fine if found guilty and probably won’t pay it anyway. Pikeys, absolute scumbags, all of them.

Totally agree Ketts. Stealing dogs should face a prison stretch as for many - it would be like losing a child. I know if i caught any t wats stealing a pensioners dog or my own golden retriever they would get a battering! People should be allowed to fight back - if a pensioner on a farm caught someone stealing their beloved dog - why should they not shoot the person in the legs etc? Nobody should be allowed to get away with it!

That Pikeys site in Ipswich - deserves to be burnt to the ground once the dogs are rescued and these people made to do hard labour as a punishment!

We are now getting the “Travelling Community” rammed down our throats by our ultra PC media........God forbid saying any against them.

They are a vile and disgusting breed of vermin who destroy and sully everything they touch.

    Society’s effluent.

This dog theft business started a few years back but has now become so much worse with the increase in demand for dogs during the lockdown. Unfortunately, we have a pikey site near my village and those that I have encountered are, without exception, unpleasant people; every time I take my dogs for a walk I carry a pepper spray, which also contains a red dye, supposed to be almost impossible to remove for about a week! I wouldn’t hesitate to use it.

Don’t blame you Ketts - hope if you are called to use it - you take their eyes out!! Can’t understand why the police waste time in not moving this scum on!!! They should go in with water canyons and cleanse the site!! What’s a matter with this country!!!

I found it on the internet, can’t remember the site name. I’m not sure if it is actually pepper but it says that it has similar properties, so to all intent and purpose, it is. It’s was about £15, a small canister in a holder that can loop onto your belt.

Does my head in, as I said on another thread they blatantly ignore COVID restrictions and I’ll wager not one has had a fine. They live outside of the law and the authorities let them.

Just read how dog theft has become a big problem here. It hasn’t yet spread to a quite prosperous adjoining area. I pick up my granddaughter from school there and always the vast majority of parents have dogs. Not just any dogs but all pedigree. They are seemingly the must have accessory. I am not a doggy person but the ones I see there are beautiful. Sadly an attractive proposition to whoever is responsible.
