    Allardyce, Stay or Go?

Now its all but confirmed we are down, we might as well start planning for the championship. First thing to consider is Allardyce.

Let's, for arguments sake, say he wants to stay for next season. Would you keep him or bring someone else in?

I think most of us will be pretty split on this.

I don't think we'll see pretty, free flowing football with him - but I do think he'd bring us straight back up. So for that reason, I'll say...Stay

What is the general thinking on here?

If we don't keep Allardyce who are we likely to get? Some cheap no mark who impresses the powers that be in an interview but really it is because he will work cheap. Or they will hit us with Appleton as he is one of us and knows the club inside out. I would be happy to still be in the championship this time next season as I think we are gonna be in for some lean times. I certainly don't see us going straight back up.

Much depends on our recruitment, for 3/4 spots. Particularly in the central midfield and striker positions.

This could come back to bite me, but I can't get my head around anyone who think we will struggle next year. The bulk of our squad got us promoted from that league last season. I'd be surprised if we finish outside the top 6, and amazed if we finish outside the top 8.

But from the Birmingham match ( out of lock down ) we were consistently poor and was very lucky to get promoted with Brentford blowing it twice. Sawyers, Livermore, Kanu, Zohore and Phillips are all dead wood and need discarding. I still say this time and time again - since Gayle moved on we have had nobody as ruthless in front of goal. I suspect Diangana will spend a third of the season in the treatment room and Grant has done very little to impress.

Sad state of affairs that Field wants to stay at QPR and in my eyes he's better than Livermore and Sawyers! So we need a huge overhaul. Okay and Gallagher are two players who will leave and the only two who can cut it in the Premier League. I would sell Johnstone if somebody offers 10 million plus to generate funds together with the dead wood as mentioned above!

What basis is there for this?

I haven't checked but I reckon Bilic was one of best paid in the Championship and Allardyce cheap? I think not!

    I say go.

Interesting that although you ask for a stay or go some on here have opinions but don't answer your question. Happens a lot.

I think many who are not fond of Fat Sam will know with him staying - that’s the safest way of getting promoted again. If Fat Sam stays it will be only because he knows he has a great chance of getting the side promoted again and then he will have a fat bonus.

The alternative to Fat Sam will be a pal of Dowlings no doubt - someone like Appleton who will be a huge gamble and of course the cheap option as seen before with Big Dave and the rookie Shan who recently left Solihull Motors because they were going down the pan!

I do apologise I should have put STAY at the beginning of the post then gone on to give my opinion as to why.

If we stick with Allardyse I think that we will have a chance of going straight back up. He does know the type of player required and in fairness does appear able to get hold of them. With our very limited funds who are we going to get who will be better. So, at this moment in time I would probably say keep. Not 100% sure though.

The sensible decision is for Fat Sam to Stay. If he stays it will be dependent on his promotion bonus so on that basis he wouldn't want to stay if he did not think he could take us back up! So stay for me!
