<> Hartlepool United <>
Hartlepool United were promoted via the play-offs, from the National League to the
EFL division 2, joining National league champions Sutton United.
Both Hartlepool United & Sutton United received no prize money for the promotion
they both achieved into the EFL division 2.
But playing in the EFL division 2 & the football league funding will benefit both clubs
by around £1m next season.
Hartlepool United last season 2020-21 cup runs & TV money gave them -
BT sports tv money - 5 home games at £6,000 a game, totalling £30,000
BT sports tv money - 3 away games at £2,000 a game, totaling £6,000
BT sports tv money - Final at Ashton Gate gave them £2,000
So a total of £38,000 from tv coverage.
F.A. cup run - £15,032 in prize money
F.A. cup - BBC tv fee around £12,500 for one game
F.A. Trophy - £775 knocked out 1st round
According to figures from the Football Association & the National League source,
Hartlepool should have earned £66,307 in prize & tv money over the 2020-21 season.
I do not have Sutton United figures for prize & tv monies earned.
With teams not getting prize money for promotion from the National League, it seems
they start with a penalty of not having funds to help the club, in recruiting players &
work required to their stadiums.
