    Brennan Johnson

Brennan Johnson has an uncertain future at Nottingham Forest as he has interest from Brentford, Leeds United and Leicester City while being at a club that need to sell valuable assets to balance the books.

The Athletic say Barnsley are the latest side to enter the transfer race and are ‘most keen on’ the 20-year-old out of all the interested parties. They’re ‘willing to pay’ up to £2m for Johnson, but that may not be enough for Forest to accept.

The Welsh international, who was born in Nottingham, rose through the youth ranks to Forest’s first-team in 2020, going on to make eight appearances in all competitions. But as Johnson couldn’t be promised regular playing time last season, he was loaned out to Lincoln City to get consistent first-team football.

The move worked brilliantly as he scored 13 goals and made 14 assists in 48 games for the Imps. Johnson has represented Wales twice off the back of his domestic form and returns to Forest as a player who could now take the Championship by storm.

That’s exactly why Barnsley are paying attention, but they may have to put up more money if they want to lure Johnson away from the City Ground.

Johnson is coming off the back of an outstanding breakthrough season in League One, but Forest’s financial situation could see them lose a real prospect before they’ve had a chance to benefit from his brilliance.

Whether he joins Barnsley this summer remains to be seen, but the fact the 20-year-old has interest from three Premier League sides speaks volumes about his development.

If Leeds and Leicester are in the hunt it’s not worth us being interested in this one.

Also makes you wonder whether Dane would want to move there if they're in such difficulties that they have to sell a rising star for 2 million pounds.

I see the Brentford Play Off Final player, Marcondes., that we were supposedly close to signing on a free transfer, has signed for Bournemouth.

Ok - Johnson looks a good prospect.
But are we in desperate need of players of that ilk?
How many players are there already at Barnsley that fit a similar description to Johnson?
I’ll start the list ….. Simoes, Wolfe, Christie, Kane …..
On the other hand - how many players have we got like Carlton Morris ?
I’ll start the list …….. Morris (end of, period).
IMO ….. we need another 2 or 3 strikers that are tall, fast and strong.
So if we do play like we did last season there are two target men on the field at anyone time.

We won't be playing like last season Nudge , different HC and different ideas .

My guess is a 3 - 5 - 2 system or even 3 - 5 -1 -1 so reading between the lines that's possibly why midfield players are top of our shopping list .
