    Social media and racial abuse

It’s time that something was done about racism and social media.OK we lost last night but that is no excuse for those idiots who posted racial abuse against the black English players. Those young lads are English and have done England proud and should be praised for their efforts in playing for THEIR COUNTRY.Last night the English team were beaten by a better team but they did their best and should praised for their efforts.During the competition those young lads gave this country a lift up from the dark days of the COVID pandemic.I for one is very proud of everyone of them black, white or any other colour. As for this social media,I think it does more harm than good and should be closed down.

    Well said sir.
It should be renamed anti social media.
More disappointed in the racist abuse these lads have received than the result. Gary Neville was excellent this morning on Sky News

We wouldn’t have qualified for the finals if it wasn’t for OUR black players.
One of OUR black players, Sterling, was the player of the tournament.
If they are receiving racist comments then this is beyond embarrassment to England and the UK.
We deserve to lose if these players are suffering from abuse.

It's pathetic how this continues to happen , it really has to stop. I personally don't think taking the knee helps , it encourages the morons who boo and use any excuse they can , on another note ? I didn't think England's player's did themselves any favours by removing their medals immediately " not all " it showed a lack of respect , poor sportsmanship and lacked any class , millions of young footballers will have seen this behaviour , some no doubt will copy, a bad example was set last night,

I noticed the silver medal bad sportsmanship thing Roma.

What's the odds on young kids coming second in a local sports/ school football competition copying their heroes in the near future ?

Will be interesting to see if Olympic silver medallists take off their silver medals after they have been put round their necks on the Olympic podiums.

Personal abuse of all kinds on all forms of social media, including football message boards, is an unacceptable but increasing trend.

I also wish we would stop the taking the knee now Roma, for various reasons. And like you say, it can lead to more harm than good now, if it ever did any good after all which Im not sure about.

Didn't you get kicked off the other forum for racism and abusive comments?

It was in Rugby that this trend of removing runners up medals started, seems footballers have started copying this now.
