    Stephen Robinson interview

Watching the EFL programme on Saturday night, Ian Holloway referenced a radio interview with Stephen Robinson that made him pull over during a car journey to listen to what our former manager said. I tracked it down on BBC Radio Lancashire and it is worth a listen, in my view. He references Motherwell several times throughout the chat, including the fact that one of the targets set by the board at Morecambe is to create a similar situation to that achieved by Motherwell (this comment comes right at the end of the 37 minute interview).

He certainly seems to have recovered his enthusiasm. One of the good guys, in my opinion, and I hope he and Morecambe have a successful season. I have tried to copy the link (see below) but as a non-techy I have no idea if it will work. The interview was recorded on June 22.

Much like McCall, Robinson stayed when the magic was gone for a season too far and spoiled his record a bit but there's no doubt he did well overall. Definitely wish him success at Morecambe and would be very curious to hear what he makes of the new transfer approach and whether that option was ever available to him.

The magic was gone by summer 2019 not summer 2020.

Guaranteed top six and being odds on for a European finish after 30 games suggests he was still squeezing something out somewhere...but yeah, much like McCall producing an absolute miracle with the squad to finish second in 2013/14, the direction of travel was clear.

Agree and when signed his son Harry same year, alarm bells should have been ringing.
This amongst one his many pointless and wasteful transfer acquisitions

Chief Exec should have vetoed it.
