Thread: Barnet

    Barnet

I must admit I forgot that HK was now their manager adding a little more spice to the game if being the opening game wasnt enough.
I saw highlights of their pre season games and they scored a few from long throws and a corner pumped into the box.
Fingers crossed we are on it from the first touch as this one might be tougher than I envisaged.

HK always tries to get his teams to play football the right way so could be a proper game of football.

Got our tickets for the match. Nice away bar, relatively easy to get to ground, no issues with the home fans.

Notts had sold around 700 according to The Magpie Circle, so a very decent turnout by Notts. Could be 800 plus.

Just debating in my mind if I can justify the cost of tickets and petrol. I think the last time I went to an away fixture on the opening day of the season was Man Utd. Really tempted.

We've now gone 14 games without a draw against Barnet.

Not a great record down there since they moved to The Hive. 1 win and 3 defeats, the win being the most recent visit.

First Notts player to ever score against them (at least in a competitive meeting) was Ian Baraclough, an equaliser, Shaun Derry grabbed us the winner to go top of the league (Allardyce champs season).

44 league games again this season, due to that Macclesfield-shaped hole. They’re playing in the NWCFL Premier Division this season, btw, and got over 2,000 for their home game on Tuesday night.

You’d think Barnet can’t be any worse than last season (when we put eight past them in the two games), but I don’t know what their signings have been like. The description of their goals coming from set pieces already has me a little concerned, given our ongoing weaknesses in this area, but it’d be great if we are able to perform well and put down a marker for the season.

    Whoops!

I'd imagine Kewell will be very keen to "do us" as well. If I was him I certainly would be!

I don't need any extra incentive to go to this game having been so starved of live football for so long, especially with it being the first away game of the season but I've never been to the Hive before so a new ground to tick off the list.

Given the two appalling performances and results we’ve had on the opening day in this league, we’re well due for something better.

Barnet away is, I think, a game we should win.
