    Nigel Clough

Has anyone heard his interview after the Stags' defeat yesterday? His comments about Elliot Hewitt are so unprofessional, very unusual to hear a manager say what he did. Link here, sorry it's not embedded.

But honest. He didn’t exactly present a calm and precise version of himself. Not sure Hewitt will be a Stags player after the weekend. Would love to be a fly on the wall on Monday morning when they meet.

Bizarre and pretty disgraceful to crucify one of your own players in public like that.

Equally bizarre to play Elliott Hewitt at right back!

Wasn't Hewitt playing right back as well? Ohhh that feeling of deja vu!

I liked Elliot Hewitt when he played for Notts under Nolan but he lost his way a bit when Ardley came in. He could be impressive when going forward but as a defender he often struggled.
I think Nigel Clough however is bang out of order calling him out in his post match interview. I think Elliot and his team mates will be less than impressed and expect to see Mansfield's good start to the season evaporate quickly now.
NC has screwed up before when things don't go well so although he started well at Mansfield I don't think he has the qualities to bring success. I think mid table is the best that Mr C will achieve at Mansfield.

Isnt it just (both counts). The part about Hewitt 'not tackling his mate from Grimsby' is awful. If he's like that in public after a single defeat, it must be pretty toxic behind the scenes when things are going badly.

And he said what a good signing it was, when he signed him

Pretty uncomfortable to listen to that. Hewitt’s not someone who you could ever accuse of not giving his all either really, quite a limited footballer but a very hard worker. His own fault for playing him at right back!

Listening to Clough, the Crawley boss, Kewell didn’t do a post match interview. We’re very fortunate to have Burchnall. Coherent, insightful, forward thinking and when things were tough at the beginning of his reign, he certainly didn’t dig players out.

We need to remain supportive of him the next time we hit a tough patch.
