    Patg

We have had many discussions and comments on this in the past, after seeing the Q at the shop yesterday where it was obvious some wouldn’t see the kick off, what about a contactless system, couple of gates, a pile of pre printed tickets you take what you get, you have a choice of tickets from top or bottom of the pile

Alternatively the club could use the PATG system in the Main Stand which worked perfectly well pre Covid pandemic. Handing over cash in seat in the Main Stand.
There is no substitute for Cash.

Think there is something wrong with this post. Can you give a bit more detail?

Sorry I typed my post quickly without checking it.
Up to 10th March 2020 the club operated a cash gate in the Main Stand (apart from all ticket games) which allowed people to hand over cash to gain access to the Main Stand. This allows people who at the last minute decide to go to the game or do not fancy ordering it online because they do not fancy standing in a long queue at the ticket office to collect their ticket.
Not every Dundee supporter who is a non season ticket holder is able to visit the ticket office to purchase a ticket for the next home game as they could be working from 9-5 or live outside Dundee.

Why can't patg be just that?
Walking past big queues at 11.50 only to possibly queue again to get in.

There must be investment or some additional costs required to allow the shop to carry on working the way it is and have a PATG system for each stand. Everyone is supposed to buy a designated seat. Also more cash handling with cash floats required for each PATG that they open. Needs a bit more work for someone. The question is how many more Dees would turn up if they could use PATG? Might be a small number?

Whatever happened to what's best for the customer?

I was playing golf Sunday, 7.40am, didn't buy a ticket as tight for time and may have been held up.

Driving back over the bridge at 11.30 I was wanting to go to the game....but couldn't.

We have got the worst of both worlds, no patg and a cumbersome and slow system for buying tickets.

But we do have Paul McMullan.......ying and yang.

totally agree Rross. Think this kind of topic should be registering with the club. It has been this way for some time and it isn't just a bunch of grumpy ol gits having a moan. I think it goes right to the heart of the relationship that is developing between the club and the supporters. The playing side is buzzing and it seems to be assumed that the supporters will turn up and double queue or make a special trip to the club shop to buy their ticket.

Was wondering if they might sell partial ST's. Reduce the price by 1/19th for every league game that has been played. Full ST £380, £20 per game. buy one in November after there have been 8 home games, for £200 to cover the remaining games. You could pro rata all the concession prices too. Might find that a Christmas present of a ST for the remainder of the season was a very affordable "big" present.

I suppose the main commercial push is to try to get in as many ST holders at the very start with Early Bird discounts but that strategy seems to struggle when the club is not sure which league it is going to be playing in.

We are going over old ground but for some reason our club appears to struggle with fan engagement. Islay takes part in stuff that is organised by the club for seniors but it seems to me that it doesn't get credit for the good things it does. Maybe I just don't read the right stuff?

The Club are not interested in what is best for their customers
It is not difficult to have PATG in every turnstile at Dens Park including the Away Stand.
All the Club need to do is designate one of the turnstiles as PATG with the other turnstiles being highlighted for Season Ticket Holders and Ticket only.
At the Fans Open day in May 2012 I operated one of the two turnstiles open in the Bobby Cox Stand. I had a cash float which was suitable for the ticket prices charged and everything worked out well.
Some clubs charge a dearer admission price for PATG to encourage people to purchase their ticket in advance.
Season ticket vouchers and tickets could be handed over at the PATG if the Club only counted every click of each turnstile which are linked to the club’s central computer instead of this nonsense of inflating the published attendance by including all season tickets sold in the official attendance whether the session ticket holder is at the game or not.

    Thank you for your post.
This subject has been mentioned on various Dundee FC forums for several years but the club have done nothing about it. They have previously sold half price season tickets for the second half of the season but that does not suit everyone. I do not understand why the Club do not sell books of six or ten homes games per season for Dundee supporters who cannot attend all the home games in a season to justify the cost of purchasing a season ticket.
I very surprised that our American majority owners do not have deals like this especially with the number of live home games at Dens likely to be televised on SKY Sports this season.
I do indeed attend meetings which are organised by the Dundee FC in the Community Trust. They are currently held by Zoom and I enclose a list of the Dundee Together meetings until the end of 2021.The meetings are open to all. https://dfccommunitytrust.org.uk/dundee-together-2/
There is a mistake in the details of the meeting Bing held on 9th November 2021 which I have just highlighted in an email to Greg Fenton especially as Jocky Scott is my hero.
