    Can gabion baskets

Be placed upon existing paving slabs, not a retaining wall, just a sorta partition.

    Less than a metre high.

Can't really find a definitive answer.

    Anybody.

Find a web site that supplies them, you might find an answer there.

Tried, loads about slabs on top for seating but nothing 're underneath.

Don't suppose it will do any harm.

But so did the man cutting his toe nails with a sythe.

My old neighbour took his railings down and put the baskets in, just suiting on the earth, been there for years , no problems.
As long as the slabs are level they will take the weight, if they are not level they will just split
