Very kind of you Lloyd, thank you.

According to my mum ( and she REALLY does have to be obeyed.....even now! ) I actually arrived just before 12.00pm on the 8th so as I write this in the early hours I have not officially reached the actual point of arrival!

Mum said I arrived just in time for lunch and then didn’t stop eating until I was late ****s🤣

It’s just another day isn’t it, or that’s what many say?

I’ve thought about my mortality since I was very young though so it’s a significant day for me personally.

I’ve rented a small house just a two minute walk from where both of my nans lived and where I spent a lot of my youth, tonight we went for a walk past both properties.

I said to my wife that when I was a kid I loved kneeling on the bench on my one nan’s landing and looking out at the darkness of the night sky at the moon and the stars.

Even back then 45 to 50 years ago I’d contemplate that my grandparents were all then aged between 60 and 70 and be sad at how long they might have left and think to myself that those ages seemed a million years away, too many to even comprehend.

It seemed as far away as the moon and the stars I loved to watch but in a blink of an eye it’s now finally here.

I don’t feel 60 but I’m a realist and I know that the coming years are going to get harder and harder and that I’m reaching the point where you have to brace yourself for those final moments be they tomorrow or still 30 or more years away.

Anyway, thanks again Lloyd, nice of you to think to post.

    Morning all,

Mick I really enjoyed reading your account of your early life and grandparents etc. I am also 60 next week and thinking back. I used to think anyone over 50 was old and how did they manage to put one foot in front of the other!! Time flies by......

    Happy Birthday Mick

Happy birthday Mick, unfortunately I cannot relate to all the talk of being old having a lengthy 14 years on ya 😬 😂

Time flies though, and I’m sure I’ll blink and be there soon and think WTF

Here’s to many more birthdays and hope you have a great time with your nearest and dearest
